Customs Duty From USA

Evening chaps,

Just a quickie on customs duty...

I ordered a set of centre caps from the Shtaaaates on Monday, they arrived in the homeland this morning but on the UPS tracking page it says "Shipment pending release from clearence agency".

So I reckon I'll be getting a letter on Monday asking for money, I just wanna know if there is a way to calculate how much extra I'll have to fork out.

About 20% on anything over €40 or €50
^ that's what i understand it to be but I've never gotten caught for import fees

Twas around the €180 mark including shipping, so about another €36 give or take?

Ask the shipper to put down a lesser value on the declaration and specify it is a gift

I'd expect to pay about €40 in duty

Duty on anything over 150 vat on anything over 20 something like that

I've gotten a lot of kit in from the states for the Vette. roughy 20% of total including the shipping cost!! Recently got a Le Mans filler cap total cost in euro including shipping €250.000 Duty paid €48.

What kind of centre caps were they?

last time it cost about 180$ all in including delivery, so they calculated this as 180e and duty was 23% of this price

Ah sure €70 of the price was shipping alone, joys of owning super rare wheels :-/
