White and water in oil help

Friend of mine has an 02 e46 320i petrol M54 engine

He has white under the oil cap and water in the oil.

Can any confirm does this sound like the head gasket is going.

That's the way mine went,is there lots of white smoke from exhaust as well ,

Does he drive it everyday?? If not the white sludge will build up with lack of use

The car was doing short drives a km every days but was sitting up over Christmas.

It probably just needs a good spin then, short drives and sitting up will cause this condensation...happens to all of them

do not panic. if car has whitish shite around oil cork it does not mean head gasket. can be condensation. car has not being heated up every day for reasonable time.
do first some straitght driving and see does it heat up, does it build up to much preassure in cawling system, and even so you still can run additional tests, like pressure test to make sure it is the head gasket.
no need to panic in first call, there may be nothing at all wrong with your mates car
