123.ie = Sorry, we can't quote for that type of car
One Direct = Sorry, we can't quote because your a mechanic
Blue Insurance = Sorry, we can't quote for a car over 10 years of age
Zurich = Sorry, we can't quote for that type of car
Allianz = Sorry, we can't quote because your a mechanic
Liberty Insurance = Sorry, we can't quote for that type of car
FBD = Sorry, we can't quote because your a mechanic
    Chill.ie = €3100 fully comp.

We'll all be driving Micras soon.
Did you ring AXA up Brian - they normally drop the price when you tell them you can get it cheaper elsewhere. FWIW I'm the same age as you, but paying €700 on the CSL with AXA too. No commuting on my policy though, which might make a difference

Strangely I've got commuting on the classic policies with them though!

Pretty similar to my quote in the m3 with similar profile. At least they're consistent

Brokers are useful in some cases, i.e. Allianz will insure you through a broker for career types that they don't directly - odd but true.

xworks - did you try AIG?

    2001 530d M-Sport
    Full licence
    No points
    9 years ncd
    29 years old

    FBD renewal €1100
Which is weird as it was around 900 last year on my Alfa, and when I switched to the BMW in June I got a slight refund so you would think the BMW would work out slightly less than the 900 I paid last year!

Rang a load of places and Aviva were the only ones to better FBD at around €1000 for the same policy, the rest either couldn't quote or were around €1500
WTF like, you would think after 9 years without a claim I'd be seen as somewhat of a safe bet?

No I called in Jeff. I always call in each year, they're only up the road from where I work
so it's handy enough. I'd only been in a few weeks earlier renewing the classic policy and
managed to get a few quid off that, so I was a little surprised that they wouldn't budge
a euro when it came time to renew the main policy.
They gave me the life time protected no claims bonus there earlier in the year for being
being a long term customer I think, and I'm guessing they were banking on the fact I'd
value that and wouldn't be in a hurry to head elsewhere.
Hopefully they never twig the rest of the industry view me as a lepper.

I didn't I'm afraid, my inner genius was starting to see a pattern emerging so
I said I'd give up before I started verbally abusing some
    poor mimimum wage phone operator.

    RE: Insurance Quotes

I was 550 or so on the M3 through the AA - they got a policy through AXA, which was better than AXA would do themselves. Additional discount for having AA membership.

    RE: Insurance Quotes

Approx. €350 on the 630i, jumped to €950 for the M6. Both with Aviva, I'm a long time customer with them, have all 3 cars with them plus other policies, other companies were significantly dearer. So I suppose it depends on your circumstances, where you live, etc....
