    Diff Whine

    Hi All,

So i replaced the Differential fluid with Correct items, but i appear to be still getting a high pitched whine at motorway speeds.

I know its a bit of a 'could be many things' question but anyone have any suggestions ??

Is it definitely the diff ? No chance it could be a wheel bearing ?

Does the whine change depending whether your on or off the accelerator?

Drove this morning and the whine is there when foot off accelerator. It does change note alright. but it is still present.

it sounds like it may be the pinion bearings starting to let go in the diff.
Noises in general though are not easily diagnosed by keyboard.

Mine has a similar noise but it has been there years and i have mentally tuned it out. what sort of a job is it to change the pinion bearing?
Can it be done in position by dropping the propshaft and removing the input flange?

    RE: Diff Whine

Unfortunately no, pinion bearings replacement would require a full
    differential strip down.
