    Digital tv for the car

Can anyone clear up a few questions I have about adding digital tv to the car

    Ireland broadcasts in mpeg4

So id need an mpeg 4 dvb-t box

But the uk broadcast in mpeg2 so If I buy an mpeg 4 box It will just give irish stations is it ?

But if I bought an mpeg2 box would it pick up the digital uk channels in the car ?

Whats the recommendation go for mpeg2 , mpeg 4 or a box with both

As you know I recently fitted a TV module to my car. You should go MPEG4 DVB-T. The UK will eventually be ditching MPEG2 anyway. I think most MPEG4 boxes do MPEG2.
Oh, I have to tune mine in if I move between Cork & Dublin due to the fact that different frequency channels are used across the country.

Same as you have at home. Digital radio too.
    Uk has over 100 channels.

Higher grade of tuners do not need manual tuning. They scan frequencies frenquently and calibrate themselves. But at an extra cost which is hard to justify in a car. They come with 3 to 4 tuners/antennas and are really meant for buses/coaches.
    Cost about 450 euros supplied.

    Digital tv for the car

Is there a digital tv tuner for an e53 that is a direct replacement for the analogue so it works through the original tv controls rather than through a remote?

Only mpeg2 I am afraid. Good for every other country in europe pretty much, but Ireland only broadcasts in mpeg4.

We are ahead of the game here with MPEG4 & MHEG5
