    e92 diff

    Hi there,

A friend of mine has a e92 320d. Its a high miler he has owned from new 160,000km on it. Serviced well.

There is a noise from the diff, Frank Keane Blackrock say the diff is knackered and need replacement (part fitters that all they are). Wondering if a diff can be repaired or a replacement sourced that not going to cost the earth. Cars only worth about 10k so spending a fortune on a new diff is not really on.

    cheers for the help.

We've looked into them getting repaired and most of our diff repair guys say they can't source the parts. Maybe Valdelis might know of a fix but I've only ever fitted complete units.

Well maybe 13, can diff oil replacement help? Can a refurbished or scrapped diff be sourced. Huge cost of a new diff and huge labour costs.

not worth to change the oil ,if parts are already damaged ,i mean if its making bad noise already . afaik mostly fails gears ,not bearings ,or both .main dealer dont sell separate parts or are too dare .its lottery ,but best is to get second hand unit .im getting about 1-2 calls a month about these diffs ,may ask few places if they have anything for sale .

is it auto or manual ?
