These are serious accusation to make by the law enforcement no matter the nature of the case etc. there should laws in place which prohibits replication of registrations simple as.
In this instance I suppose having a distinct vehicle with distinct stickers or wheels etc. goes a long way when accusations like this occur.

Heard of a X5 and was constantly getting stopped, 2-3 times some days if in town and Garda wouldn't tell him why until one of them said it to him after a few months that the reg was 1 digit off a well known scum bag drug dealer in exact same car!! Went up for sale that day as he didn't want to be in the cross fire of mistaken identity.
