    Mate dunno about the rest of the issues you are having but when I had the e39 I had P0171: System too Lean (Bank 1) and P0174: System too Lean (Bank 2) for over 2 years. Everything pointed to an air leak but there was no such thing but I spent fortune changing every pipe you name it. Turned out to be the MAF sensor. Changed that with an OE part from gsf car parts and never had those codes again.

    I just collected the car from Darius (Med5) and he changed parts 1,2,3,4 in the above pic and its running perfect again happy days
