E46 Steering rack

Lads, the steering on the tractor has gone somewhat sloppy. I suspect worn steering rack. Suspension had an overhaul only a few months back, but this feeling in the steering has only presented itself in the past few days.

I know I can do an exchange service on my own one + cash and then get Valdas/Conor to carryout the removal and refit, any other suggestions before I take that path? Should I stick with my own one and wait for an overhaul of that exact one?

Typically, what €€€ am I looking at for refurb and removal/refit?

Iirc there's a refurb kit available from Bmw that I'm sure either Valdas or Conor could fit, it might be the most economical way (but I'll let them speak for themselves!)
