OEM headunit is not too good in the e39's and upgrades always look tacky with the small headunit and massive plastic piece around it
They probably sounded much better than the standard stereo system.
The option was less than 1000 according to this sheet.
From what I have read it was better than the standard Harman Kardon DSP option, while both systems used the same DSP amplifier.
That would not make sense to buy a used set these days.
I can show you my own sound system in the E39 if you are around Blanch one of those days. 80% finished but all speakers working and pulsing good.
