Thread: E39 (touring or saloon)

    E39 (touring or saloon)

Looking for a clean, straight E39 for daily driver duty, preferably M Sport in touring or saloon form.

Will consider any engine & fuel type, but nothing that needs work done - must be road-ready.

FSH or obvious "BMW enthusiast" care and attention essential.

    What's your budget?
Ones that come road ready and in good condition are getting hard to come by, so they'll be priced a bit higher than the average E39 on Done Deal or similar.

My budget would be €1200-2000 for a "Done Deal" car, and up to around twice that, so €2400-4000 for the right car. At the top end of that budget it'd need to be something very nice.

I'm not necessarily looking for a track day race ready car, just something that's been taken care of by someone who likes their cars.

The M Sport would be nice, but I'll consider regular non-M's in good nick.

A 4k e39 will still likely need money spent on it

I understand any car is going to need money spent on it, but I can't spend €4k and not have something I can drive

You should have no issue finding a tidy e39 at the higher end of your budget

Sport Tourings are scarce extremely scarce so uk is probably the only option for them

Have you an engine in mind ? Diesel petrol i6 v8 manual auto

Actually there is one e39 which id buy at the moment its the only one thats caught my eye lately il dig out a link

Both of those - the 525i and 530d - look pretty sweet.

I'm looking at preferably 2.5L or under for somewhat reasonable tax.

I don't mind so much auto vs manual, nor diesel vs petrol, maybe the running costs on a 525d might be a bit more bearable, but I don't want to get into diesel false economy thinking.

    Any thoughts on these two?
