    e36 323i problem

so when I'm cruising along my car has started chucking almost like the break is been tapped. it does it at any speed but not under acceleration, any ideas?

i know my break pads have to be done could it be a jammed pad or something?
    [hr]
also just noticed rough idle while lights are on even parking lights, lights off no problems

Your battery is loose / bad earth. Also worth while looking for air leaks.

Earthed to the body right? Have you checked the calipers? Alternator?

I had a e60 520i in the other day for repair. It had the same weird symptoms as yours. Only when not under load it felt like the rear brakes were on and off. Turned out to be worn prop shaft rubber and the centre baring.

the fronts are grand, went to jack up and turn wheel on back but sure been half sleep never thought oh lsd it won't turn... ill check it out monday. yeah id say the alternator is on its way would that effect the running of the engine when cruising? i know thats probably causing the bad idle when turn lights on

You will see cracks or rips in the rubber coupling

If she's not charging the battery from the alternator she will chuck.
