    530d taxed as 2 litre

Well lads seen a lot of 530s up on donedeal saying 2 litre on the book.
Rang one guy and he said its taxed as a 2.0 but he has it insured as a 3.0.
Just wondering how this all came about and can it still be done?!
Obviously makes owning one slightly more appealing haha

if ya know someone in a garage you can get them to sign it off as a 2 litre as if ya had a engine conversion done.

It's simple. You fill in a form saying the engine has changed to a 2.0 and it's signed and stamped by a registered garage.

Anybody in a bmw dealership want to make some tax free euros? I joke. All motor engineer reports have to be done by main dealer as from a few years ago. I've heard of people going to the extreme of removing the big engine and replacing it with a smaller unit just for an engineer report and then reinstalling the big lump back in.

It's a lot off work but it could save you up to a 1000 a year. I wouldn't mind getting the 330i into a 710 tax bracket.

So just get the form, fill it in and get it stamped and then bring it in to tax office and it will be done?!
Is it just that easy? And what are the enthusiasts views on doing this

What happens if you get caught?

Tax is tax regardless of whether its called car tax or income tax, so not paying the full amount is tax evasion, would the current owner be caught for all the previous unpaid tax? Plus penalties?
