    BMW recalls

Are they supposed to write to owners or how does it work generally?

    Ring a main dealer.
Give them your vin/reg and they can confirm if your car falls into the recall list.

Apparently on each change of ownership you are supposed to inform the dealer that you own the car. Just noticed in the GF's mini today that there is a load of free post postcards in the service book for change of ownership

It's so BMW can keep in touch with you and also send you sales material and invite you to their special offer days

    BMW recalls

FYI I rang frank keane this morning. They don't yet have the list of affected cars.
The my took my details; name, chassis number and reg and will get back to me if I'm affected by the recall.

Word is that they are waiting on full details from BMW. They will issue letter in the next 2 weeks or so.
