E36 short shifter question

So there's a fella over on driver (maybe here too, hello if you are :hehe! has a short shifter for sale. Small enough money but I don't want to buy if it won't do the job. I don't have any experience with these but I am aware that only certain ones will do be correct.

I've asked for a part number which the seller can't provide but has provided a link to an ebay seller with what looks very like what's on offer.

I appreciate it may be hard to tell but if anyone with any experience has any input I'd appreciate it.

Nope, Seems fine. I chanced it cost it cost me nothing.

I couldn't live with one daily, felt horrible, rough, real agricultural. I didn't like the fe, no comfort at all, might be different for other people

Invest in the proper one from bmw (60e) they are a godsend completely transformed the gearbox in mine id never go back

But i do agree with jason it will be a personal thing like the colour of a car ,tyre choice etc you will either love it or hate it

I have one from a z3 in the e30 and its a great improvement, not agricultural at all, just nice and precise

Oh I've driven cars with them and I do like it but for 20 quid why not? What benefit does the BMW one have over this I wonder?

Much more r&d bmws budget is huge , the one above looks like chinese tat off fleabay little effort put in more a universal metal bar then precise shifter

But what do you want for 20e buy it and try it if its useless just sell it again
