    e36 conking out

One of the lads needs advice with his e36 316i. He was driving it today and it just randomly died on him and wouldnt start. He swapped the fuel pump and relay and it was going perfect for about a mile and conked out again. Now when he starts it isnt idling properly and conks out.

Any1 have any ideas what it could be ?

will it stay going if its being revved? conking out and not idling could be the icv?

Have the same problem with a 318is here if you rev it it will stay going once you try and let in idle it dies and doesn't have any vacuum leaks.

Would a cam shaft sensor really cause this?

Is it just a case of replacement or can it be fixed?

if you're lucky it could just need to be cleaned out ,take it off and clean it with out with carb cleaner. might save you a trip to the breakers/stealers!!
