Lightbulb E92 335i - do they have a dual clutch transmission?

Did early ones have a single clutch and later ones have a dual clutch, or do they all have dual clutches?

Thought it was the later ones that had the DCT 7 speed option...early ones were just auto with the funny paddles.

Don't forget the later ones are the N55 single turbo aswell

Eh, I could be wrong but I thought it was only the M's with a DCT.
Never noticed a DCT option in the configurator for a non M.

Besides an auto box, the others could also have a sport auto gearbox which came with paddles.

I'm sure I'll be shot down so I'll put on the parachute now.

    :-)

    : / ...........

@[Cisk] and @[Paddy] how would you describe the downshifts with the paddles? Are they pretty much instantaneous or is there a bit of a delay?

Yeah with the standard flappy paddles you do feel a bit of pendulem motion as you downshift and wait for the next gear to catch. Upshfting is better and feels quick enough when you want to get moving. In stop start traffic they can feel clunky so i avoid using them in such situations.

Agreed, up-shifting coming onto a motorway or a good open road it feels good, down-shifting in a hurry I usually floor it and let her kick down but there's still a delay there. It's way better after the full software update though!!

With the DCT it's instantaneous, gives a blip on downshift too, had a lend of a 2011DCT 335i for a week
a while back...huge amount of fun

Thanks Donal, there wasn't a clear cut answer when I googled. Hmm to hold out or to stop being fussy and just go for it... That is the question!

I never realised that the later model is a single turbo..I wonder why they changed from the twin turbo setup?
