What way do you plan your projects, builds or maintenance

Just curious to know what way you plan out the maintenance of your beloved machine?

I'd be even more interested to know peoples different ways the approach the same for their builds and project cars?

Do you have it all thought out and stored in your head, written on bits of paper all over the place etc etc....

Interested to know as I'm sure every one has a different approach to what needs doing first, costing, sourcing etc etc as well as what you work you can do yourself.

Personally I have a little spreadsheet for this. Some people I've shown think it's a great idea others think it's very odd so that made me wonder what ways other car nuts approach this?

What way do you plan your projects, builds or maintenance

Good idea. I start with the mad ideas in my head and as I progress what I want to do between tasks and parts I too put them on a spreadsheet. And still the mad ideas keep coming

Keep it in me head mostly.
Kind of made a list in my head when i bought the car of what needed to be done to the car to have it sorted mechanically...and decided on wheels and suspension set up that was it really just put it In order of most important bits first.
ive got a kind of goal for what i want to do by a certain time like exterior interior.
if its mod wise and if a certain part pops up before i need it and cash is available ill grab it and put it by till im ready.
If its something i can do myself its a big help because i dont have to factor in labour costs or borrowing a car i can do it at my lesuire.
If its a thing thats important matainence wise like brake
pads tyres etc it gets priority and bumped to the top of the que.
Ill service it at its regularly in between everything.
Always get ideas from others aswell and change my mind about things so lists would be a few pages of scribble for me im afraid as there constantly changing so I suppose I'm a bit random

I get an image in my head and tend to aim for that, making lists but then usually accompanied by a cup of tea and a chat on the phone it goes wildly out of controll. BMWs tend to stay simple where as the Opels go waaaaay overboard, like a 2.5 V6 Corsa has inspired a 5.2 V12 Corsa with a little encouragement from my fabrication expert mate.

I generally have everything i plan to do with my cars all stored in my head.
