Audi RS6 project with Motor Confidence

Yes we do fix other cars as well ,not only BMW :hehe!:
This time we got Audi RS6 , our customer bought this car as cat in the bag, even without test drive as it had some problems as oil and coolant leak .Car was towed straight in to our garage and project started .Oil leak at the back of the gearbox ,front differential oil leak ,and coolant leak . Strip out job started ,front wing arche liners, all front panels as bumper , all radiators and other plastic stuff should came off to get access to engines front . This is how it looks without front body parts

water leak location, main problem was cracked small plastic water pipe between engine block and oil cooler housing

More parts to come off to get to main faulty parts
Alternator off and brought to repair ,to check its condition while its out as it would be very big job to get it off later if it would fail .Regulator was already replaced so we changed only bearings as was noisy ,now its healthy for another few miles .
Engine mount with bracket should come off, some water pipes and hoses , oil cooler housing and cooler it self removed off . Its few rubber gaskets on some water steel pipes , between housing and cooler ,so they replaced with all new housing bolts as well.
New plastic pipe with new o rings as this was main fault here
Cooler had some surface damage and could be another problem in near future so it was replaced with new one

So now we sorted with one of the problems .
Timing belt was replaced only 20k miles ago but it was done 6 years ago, so its on to do list as well .Full new timing belt kit including new belt and water pump was ordered .Crank seal had some oil leak signs so all front engines seals was replaced .1 front crank and 2 front cam seals . To do them and for timing correct adjust cam gears should came of , they do are sitting on very well so need some special remove tool .
Gears removed ,seals replaced ,all new idle bearings ,tensioner , belt water pump ,damper all fitted back in new parts and timing adjusted .

So one more job done with engine front .

Next is gearbox back seal and front transfer box side seal oil leak
Back gearbox seal was leaking of its old life so we replaced it with new one and top upped the oil
Transfer box side seal leak .Somebody has done some work here and when they fit back side shaft bearing flange, damaged the seal ,it was left only 2 small parts of it ,more than half of it was missing .Side shaft and bearing with flange should came off to replce the damaged parts .New O ring and new shaft seal with oil top up .All old oil cleaned off and everything fit back as should be

few more of new and old seals

Auto gearbox is life time sealed as Audi says ,same BMW do
Car is not high mileage so gearbox oil change would be very good step and longer gearbox life in future .New box sump gasket as sump must be removed to change oil filter ,old filter replaced with new one ,sump fitted back with new gasket and new oil filled .
Full engine service done ,engine oil with filter ,air ,pollen and fuel filters replaced and new original Audi plugs fitted .Now shes ready for test drive !! First after its purchase :smiling:

All going well ,pulls nice and strong .Gave it some harder drive to be sure that any bad points will show their signs asap before owner will collect it  as car was laying for enough long time ,and here we come :crying: oil leak threw engine and gearbox cooler ,threw joints and one of steel hose.We saw that hoses was disconnected early and fitted back with some tape to fix that leak ,so front bumper should came off to get access to fix these problems .They needed to remove them probably when they did timing belt and needed more access ,but aluminium connections in long time gets corroded and can be easy damaged when removing ,that's what happened . The hose joints are steel so they don't get any damage and can be re-used,but not damaged tread :surprised:. New cooler would cost over 1k e ,so we did some custom work.Re -treaded damaged part with different size tread but now old hose wont fit of different sizes .another step to get new joint to suit both ends ,thats what we have done and fitted it back .Another hose problem was - rust !! to fix it we must remove it as well ,one connection near engine oil filter housing and it worked fine but other end was on cooler ,so same problem with tread again .this time we got new custom made high pressure hose to replace damaged hose and suit new different size end on cooler .Finally it got fixed and car back on the road ,just before Christmas ,very happy to finish it after nearly 3 weeks ,we got stuck on some parts as was only main dealer and bad weather in England which made some delays as well .Now after another test drive all looks ok and no any more any oil or coolant leaks
