Thinking of getting it to smarten up my TV, I have 1st gen Samsung LED.
What are people's opinions? Is there better out there?
Id love a jail broken apple TV Burt they are a bit rich for me at the moment.
Typically I'd want to use it to watch the likes of youtube and show box or moviebox(iOS)
Thoughts?
Better off with the likes of an MXIII and an air mouse IMO, worth the €60-80.

ive downloaded xbmc a few months ago and love it.its a free programme that lets me watch thousands of tv channels for free,including most of the sky line up.all sky sports channels ,setanta,sky movie channels,boxnation to name a few.its a bitch to setup the channels but if ya search youtube theres plenty of help..currently on my laptop and tablet which is plugged to tv.and all is free,google xbmc and give it a go.
That's what I run on the Android box, along with the apps John mentions and then you've got storage for movies if you've downloaded them and would rather not stream them through one of the XBMC addons. Handy solution.

For the price, the chromecast is absolutely worth getting. Amazon were selling them for about 20 euro before Christmas so I picked up a couple as easy Christmas presents. They're fairly well supported (Netflix, Youtube, Plex) and it's kind of nice being able to use a phone as a remote control. I keep one in my backpack for whenever I'm out of the country, beats hotel TV.
Anyone know where's selling the Chromecast the cheapest?
Curry's had them Xmas week for €24-28 since back up to €39 across Google Play/Currys/Argos etc
If you're in Dublin airport anytime soon check Currys. They're usually around 25-30 euro. Probably the cheapest place in the country for tech.
