    e39 rear brake pads

    I went change rear discs and pads today and came undone with the wear sensor on.the drivers side. Are these part of the pad assembly or is it separate?. I could not separate them and the pads looked slightly different. Do I have to buy different pads or just get the sensor separately that fits the new pads.

    Iirc sensor plugs into the pad a small u shaped clip holds it in place

    That's what I thought but the pad I removed it seemed that sensor and pad was all one unit, the pad didn't have the slot at the rear face only had the cutout for the sensor the front face of the pad and there was no budge in it.

    I have seen pads in the past with it all made into one piece
