It could be the abs control module.
Is there any interference in the auto?

I'm not sure yet- I bought it in Japan at an auction it's on the boat as we speak. Very low mileage 25k and Grade 4B so very clean but that light is on, just doing a bit of home work in advance . I've read up that it can sometimes be a sensor issue so a correct diagnostic is needed

Sometimes it can be a speed sensor on the rear, If the ABS & ASC lights are on and the speedo is intermittent it'll be the ABS module.

I think these guys refurb units but not 100%,

As Ross mentioned a failed wheel speed sensor can cause this - very easy and cheap fix (was on the e46 anyway)

Id get if coded ASAP though before you go spending any money on parts or anything

I need a new module. Got quoted €800 including labour. Logic Automotive are refurbishing it instead....took it out and fitted a spare one in the meantime.. It should cost me less than €400
