Thanks guys, it will be a while before I can get stuck into it properly but for now a good service and timing belt change is on the cards.

The other bonus with it is it's a 2.4td which is great as most are straight diesel. I've always wanted a hilux tbh but always ended up buying other jeeps like landcruisers , patrols etc. Body wise it's i neeeeeed!, but mechanically it seems A1 and not an oil leak in site.

That looks pretty cool James, bet those tires are noisy on the road!!! .

Some pictures of the truck before any sort of love is shown, didn't have much time so only a handful of before's but shall get plenty as it progresses. For now the aim of the game is to keep it mechanically tip top and clean down the chassis to inspect for the dreaded rot although so far all seems okay. Once the chassis is clean and free from years of crud I shall paint it. Tires will be needed before the next doe in June.

    BEFORE PICTURES :

This is what I know so about it so far :

    Make : 1998 Toyota Hilux
    Body : Single cab utility
    Engine : 2.4TD - 2L-T engine

Drive : 2WD/4WD - Rear wheel drive on the road
    Mileage : 152,000 Miles
    Owners : 4
Spec : Dual airbags, windy windows, chrome line grill, jacked shackles
Color : Metallic purple (in places )

Cheers Dan, shall check it out during the week and have a good look around . Decided no better way to introduce the Hilux to Super4 life then to give it a damn good wash, glad I did this at a jet wash as I washed off a serious amount crap.

I pre sprayed Meguiars RTFR all over the body and chassis and let it sit for a few minutes before washing it all off. Then out came the Meguiars shampoo and wash mitt followed by a rinsing. Being honest the body is pretty poor paint and dent wise but I still couldn't bring myself to use the brush lance .

    FOR ANOTHER DAY :

    RE: SUPER4 SHOP TRUCK PROJECT

Decided to see could I make a start on trying to get rid of the woeful smell in the truck..... So the stripping started and oil changed in between. There were 3 sets of seat covers on each seat and it looks like new owners just kept putting one on top of the other and so on. When I got them off I could see why on the driver side, the base outside bolster looks like JAWS had a go at it.

There are a few missing trims I need to get my hands on and also some are broken so need to be replaced.

Whilst its filthy its all in one piece (kind of) unlike the driver side, to be expected though with 150,000 on the clock.

    More to come......

Stripped the ply board and useless roll bar from the bed and was left with this :

Then bought it to the jet wash :

Out with the old Blaupunkt :

In with the new but old Kenwood :

Interior in day light, all scrubbed inc headliner :

Reflective removed off the wing mirrors, it was well bet on there :

The rear tub is pretty battered including the wheel arches, decided to do a quick re shape on them :
