    WHICH ENGINE OIL 2005 E46

    Hi guys,

    is this the right engine oil for my 318ci 2005. 2litre petrol ?

    the car has around 120,000 miles on it

    That will do fine, any oil that meets bmw LL04 spec is suitable. Try micksgarage or your local motor factors you may get a lot cheaper than mister-auto.

    the local motor factors are a few quid dearer for the same,

    i saw halford doing a gallon of thier own branded 5w40 stuff for €15, avoid?

    MicksGarage were doing a litre of 5W30 for €5 a while back.
    I picked up about 15 litres

    i personally wouldnt use halfords stuff. i dont know if its good bad or indifferent but im not taking the chance.
    Lots of people swear by Castrol just because they were the OE supplier but theres so much more out there.
    last service I used Total quartz 9000, it was only around 30 for 5 litres. just stick with a name brand that meets LL04.
