    which fault scanner to buy

    hi there,

i can see a few on ebay ranging from under €50 delivered to up over €200

    here's the search
    http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=bmw +e46+scanner&_sacat=0

is the difference with the more expensive ones that they not only tell you the fault code but can also reset it ? but the cheaper ones just read the codes.

I reckon it would be handy to have one of these so i'm going to buy one, just need to know what's suitable and what's overkill?

    it's for a 2005 E46 coupe

I've got the torque app for android and use it with an Elm 327 OBD2 interface. Total cost of about €8.

    Reads and clears certain codes
