335d auto transmission problem.

335d (2006) automatic.
transmission was jumping.
red warning light appeared.
main dealer assessed that big leak from transmission.
new gasket fitted.
main dealer stated issues in first gear, but may 'go away' after
some time driving!
in fact there is a big jolt leaving first gear, and bigger jolt returning
into first gear! otherwise drives well.
main dealer stated if ir didnt 'go away' would need a new trsnamission!
anyone got suggestions please!

The gear box linked to the Alpina V8 can also exhibit this, although usually in second gear. Most peeps take the box to an authorised Getrag dealer and get it rebuilt - about 2k I think. Probably cheapper than a new one...

Check out thealpinaregister.com and search for V8 gear box threads. There is a place in the north-east of UK that does it, amongst others.
