    Buying E53 X5

I'm thinking of buying an E53 X5 . I'll have around €12,000 to spend max... so looking at cars with north of 100,000 miles

What are the issues to look out for with these cars with this type of mileage ? What should I expect to have been done if it's been looked after properly?

    Thanks

    Buying E53 X5

    Marc,
    We've 170k Kms on our e53.
Heres what we've had to do and is what I'd look for in a replacement
    Replaced all the shocks
    Changed gearbox oil
Regular servicing (more than the prescribed amount)
Replaced steering wheel trim (the original will be worn by now)
    Replace cv boots
    Fit hid bulbs
I'd want decent tyres on the car too, preferably original spec tyres
    And some tax

    I think that's about it...

If I can make a few bob on her I'll let her go- if not more than happy to keep her.

Mine has 22,000 miles. I don't believe that car above is worth £20k but I do know what that dealer paid for it and it's good money

Great thanks John . Bushings have been mentioned elsewhere also. I'm on the look out for a well kept commercial one but if a nice one comes up..this one has been well looked after

Looks very well. I'd have a look at that.

After owning one for a few years the only weak point is the gearbox.
Try and check if any work has been done, oil change is a must.
Avoid anything with budget tyres if you can.
I think JohnH has covered most of the wear and tear items that go!
