E36 LSD Query ASAP :)

Lads im goen looking at e36 diff today the guy was told its small case lsd but hes not sure himself he took pic of tag and states 338v476? Normally i taught it would state "S" on tag? Any help ill try post pic of it

Wouldn't trust just seeing an S.

Pop off the back plate and see is there an LSD unit inside.

what Ross said. Don't get fooled into buying a welder. Is this for sale in wexford by any chance? Has it up on adverts?

The S is normally printed onto the top of the casing in a white letter. The 338 would be the ratio so 3.38 which is the standard 318is M44 one

Ya hes from Wexford a blue coupe for breaking but didnt see add on adverts saw it on facebook.

I 'think' the M42 318is had a 3.38 and M44 is 3.45.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

3.45 was the ratio for the M42 engined 318is and possibly some of the Automatic engined models

The "S" lettering can be seen in the picture below. They're not the same casing but the stamping would be in the same place. It's just white paint

I had someone ask me about this guy and diff last week. Its not far from me but I don't know him. The other guy didn't buy it
You'd have to wonder why.
