    From e39 to e60

Was thinking of taking the next step in generation in five series but was wondering is there much difference between the e39 and e60 underneath as in suspension? Is it a case of Al the same parts just a different body lumped on? And are they the same line of engines. ie the 2.2? . Cooling systems differ a bit I know as in the rad is completely different. ( I ordered I rad for my 2.2 e39 and got a e60 instead, completely redesigned) do the 2.2 e60 still burn oil?. That kind of stuff, ideally I would prefer the 2.5 deisel... I do fifty mile daily, 250+ a week, but can't bear the tax for the 3.0 ( or even the 2.5 at that.!)
Any advice and support will be looked apon wit a tip of the hat in respect

    From e39 to e60

The E60 is completely different with aluminium panels being used as well as steel. Some panels were bonded to the frame unlike the E39. The M54 engines for petrols were carried over for awhile. The newer N52, N53 had their own issues with N52's and oil etc. Diesels in six cylinder seem quite sturdy but DPFs can cause issues.

The interior architecture is very different in an E60 but I like them. Have had a few 530d's and a 535d plus a petrol 525i E61. They do feel less well put together than an E39. Best to try one and see if you like them.

A well sorted E39 imho is a far superior car to the E60, build quality dropped seriously going to from e39 to E60 but that could be said about all newer gen BMWs.

However finding an e39 in good condition is increasingly difficult
