Just to update this
E34 Universal Joints p/n 32311151454 are now available from the dealer again. They were listed NLA but are listed as available again

And if you're doing the e46 rack into an e30 you need two of them

Well I bought two, one in the US, one in the Uk

The Us one was $95 and the U.K one was about £60 so not the cheapest.

All in all, fitting a purple tag rack to the e30 is turning out to be bloody expensive
