    E46 - Radiator fan removal tool

    Where would I pick up one of these tmrw morning? Have a water pump to change out :-/

    Edit: Being smaller, do 4 cyl engines have enough room to do the job without fan removal? No mention of this step in the Pelican DIY below:

    Hi Roberto,

    If it is the 32mm long spanner you are looking for in order to remove the viscous fan I have these in stock. Genuine BMW item, they are €24.95.

    Removing the fan makes life a lot easier and will shorten the time taken.

    EDIT : Apologies just seen this is questions is related to E46's... Bloody E36's on the brain.

    What engine is it? from memory n42 is electric fan no need for spanner if m54 then the viscous fan will have to come off

    Thanks for the reply (and for the links that I went WAY off topic following!) I'm in work until this evening and plan to work on it tmrw morning so I'll definitely keep you in mind for next time.

    N43 1.9 I think. Was dark (and bloody cold) last night looking at it. Fingers crossed it's straight forward.

    I'd say it's this m43b19 plenty of room to work and no need for the 32mm spanner

    Sorry Roberto, just realized your OP was for E46 related question, I've bloody E36's on the brain . Like Gar said plenty of room to work with .
