318tds cold start problem

Hi guys,

I have a problem with starting my car after being parked all night

it happened yesterday the first time, before that there was no problem at all.

Happened this morning as well.

The glow plugs were replaced by previous owner.(that what he said-they look new)

was grand everything just until yesterday, took me about 2 min to start after

continuously hold the keys on. lots of smoke and kind of smelly one (not sure how describe it)

anyone had any similar problem?

I read a lot about the issue but could be many things wrong.

Its not a red 4 door on concours by any chance?

I had a friends one for a month of so and had the same issue, only when you let the fuel go below half a tank!
would take ages to start then would pump out smoke when i got going!

Nope, its Orient blue Touring.

this just started yesterday, always have below half of tank and never any issue.

Car after 10hrs being not started (at work) started straight away.

Hahah.

I know. It could be my last diesel to be honest.
6pot is next.

Anyway this morning car started. But I heated the glow plugs like 6times. Started but was struggling. I think that's glow plugs. Just thinking as this happened from one day to another.

I had the same prob wit a 525tds grand all summer nd 1st cold morning had to use quick start. Give em a test. I had 5 gone tho. Ya thinkin of sellin the tds by any chance

Not selling yet I saw nice 330d but I like my tds touring.
I'll check glow plugs. But I will check them on weekend when I'm off
According the seller. Glow plugs were changed last year.

Update. Today I've changed the glow plugs.

I've checked the relay and fuse was ok. But I couldn't check relay itself.
So if glow plugs change will not help the relay is next.

I tried to start this morning and it's working. Started on first go.
Happy days.
Will get chip for the engine next week to get a bit more power from M41.
