Or Supercharger + Turbo ? The car would be pulling from lower revs with the Charger and from 3,5 rpms onwards the Turbo would kick inn? :smiling:

For some time my exhaust has been blowing, crackling and generally falling asunder so with the NCT retest coming up again I decided to swap it out with a standard item from a 320i until I decide on what way I plan to do my exhaust. Naturally the nuts on the exhaust bolts at the cat end of the car were rotten and seized so I rung those off and put new ones on.

Not BMW items but close enough. While I was under there I noticed the passenger rear jack pad was missing and some temporary rust treatment needed doing around it. I wire brushed off the heavy crud and then applied some kurust, once dry Wurth stop rust primer was applied followed by the jack pad.

I finished off with oil and oil filter, spark plug change, headlight alignment and suspension check.

Both left & right rear upper outer control arm bushes now badly need replacing.

I didn't take any snaps of oil and plugs change, car is much quieter now and going very well. Next up is NCT and rear outer upper control arm bushes and take it from there.....

    Thanks for looking .

Not much to report of late accept a new drivers seat arrived for the "IS" last weekend, thanks to Harry for collecting it in Cork and binging it up for me. This is insanely light so looking forward to getting it in when time permits. Its a very clean Recaro Pole Position with build 2008. Side mounts need either a fresh up or I shall obtain new Recaro items for them in time.

    Thanks for looking

With the shop truck now fully on the road with insurance, tax and doe the "IS" has finally gotten a space in the workshop. Some jobs that need doing now at this stage are :

    1. Rear Bushes need replacing all round
    2. Brakes need better pads and calipers badly need a service as passenger side is sticking.
    3. Rear discs to be swapped to vented drilled.
    4. Brake fluid flush with ATE Blue race fluid
    5. Front window to be replaced
    6. Rear suspension arms and subframe to be stripped and painted
    7. Recaro seat to be fitted
    8. Rear interior to be trimmed and cleaned up.

So far since it's been in the workshop I have removed the front calipers, old pads and stripped calipers. The front pads I have put about 15,000+ miles on and they have only worn 2.43mm off new EBC Yellows!!!!.

The K-Sport pads are known to be poor and very much the weak point in their setup. I placed a magnet over the K-Sport pad about an inch away from the braking material side of the pad and it lifted it clean off the work bench showing just how much metal is actually in the pads!!!! They worked fine under light to moderate braking conditions but were pretty poor under extended heavy braking so out with them and in with EBC Yellows.

DRIVER SIDE : More detailed photos.

    ALL STRIPPED :

Thanks for looking, more to come .
