    Brand New E34 M5 1990

    This car has been for sale for at least 7 years, and has been the subject of many different forum threads.



    It's back up for sale again, but I notice that the asking price has gone from £65,000 to £75,000.



    I'm not sure that the strategy of increasing the price when the car hasn't found a buyer in 7 years is going to work.



    I can't help thinking that if he cleaned it up, recommisioned it, and marketed it properly, that it would be gone quickly.

    She's as old as the internet now at this stage

    Out of curiosity if you were to buy it and register it for the first time in Ireland would it be on a 161 plate ?

    I think you are correct. It would be treated like a new car with a 161 plate which would look very strange.

    You'd also have to pay full VRT.

    People like this should be shot with balls of their own shit. Who buys an M5 and leaves it sit there!!!

    maybe, you have to pay the difference in VAT between countries on new vehicles.

    So you'd be looking at VRT based on the rolled up cost, VAT (because its new) and the initial purchase price bringing the total to approx. €200k. It would also be subject to CO2 based road tax, €2400 per year, thank you. But you would have a 161 plate!

    I remember doing sums on a micro mileage e39 540i Sport manual a few years ago that was about 7 years old at the time. Because of the mileage it would have been treated as a new car, for both VRT and VAT. Rather than bringing it straight home, if you drove it to the southern wine regions of France, filled the boot with decent wine and drove it home the VRT alone would have dropped by about €16.5k (probably €15.5 after paying for the wine )
