    Cordless Impact Guns

    Hi guys,

Thinking about getting one of these shortly. The birthday is coming up so I might spoil myself

    Any recommendations?

Is there shops in Dublin that have a decent selection and fairly priced? Would buy local if I can.

Have been doing a good bit of looking today, and amazon is looking the best priced. Prices can vary by a few hundred online for the same model!

Budget is about 300 - 350 or so as will be diy tool so wont be getting daily hardship.

    Was thinking this guy:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00V...A25CFATD82VYVC

Oddly enough, it works out cheaper to buy the gun, battery and charger separately. All in comes to €340 delivered to my office in Belfast.

    Any pointers would be great.

I have a sealy one that I thought was quite good. Batterys are now fucked though and I use air all the time. If I was you I'd put the money to a 200ltr air compressor and a cheap air gun once you have decent sized air line you'll be sorted.

The problem with rechargeable tools is if you don't cycle the batterys often enough they shorten the lifespan.

I've only used the Snap on one but at around €700 plus vat you'd want to be using it regularly to earn its keep.

Was looking at the snapon ones too, but no way i could justify the cost! I would have thought cycling the battery would shorten the lifespan.

Problem with a compressor is storing the thing, space is a bit limited at the moment and i dont think i could get away with bringing one into the house

    Makita is very good.
Got a set for 210 euros in B&Q with drill and small impact gun and 2 batteries and charger
And bought bigger impact one 3/8" to remove car seats bolts in 2mn from ebay for 50 gbp delivered. The Makita tw100, body only. But I can use my 2 batteries I have already.
I have the 10.8v version which is very good for cars/vans.
Better get 18v versions if you plan to use this for building.

Here's an alternative for less than a tonne, the main cons are: it's either off or on not adjustable & requires access to mains power

Ohh thats a good idea, never considered plug in one. Most of the ones i was seeing were 110v and I wasn't bothered lugging a transformer around the place. May check to see what other ones are out there.
