E36 blowing hot air only

Had this issue in my old E36 and it was heater control valve. Think the new part was something like 60 quid from the dealers

I normally do them for 30 but Im all out. My humble opinion is to whip it off and give it a good clean. No harm in a Rad flush and some new fluids either. Also what's your temp guage at and how are header pipes behaving? Just to rule out other options.
