Why does my E60 Msport have bluetooth but no mic?!?!?!?!

    Hi all,

Have my E60 msport a week now and LOVE IT! The car spec'd in the garage as sat nav with no bluetooth. Came with a Parrott installed.
Went through the menus and seen it does have bluetooth. Paired my phone up grand, phone book across etc. Made a call, can hear the other person absolutely fine but they cannot hear me.
I took out the plastic panel at the top and there is no mic in their. Neither is the mic for the voice command?
Why would it have everything else bluetooth but not have the cheapest part of the kit?

I plan to pick up the 2 mics this week, but was just wondering where do they plug in? There should be a block in the wiring loom in the roof. Had a quick feel around but cant find it. Im sure its there somewhere?

    Thanks in advance,
    Stephen

It could be that it was factory fitted but malfunctioned, hence the after market jobby. Depending on the problem a previous owner may have decided that it was too costly to repair, or depending on Parrott model, may have decided they also wanted to stream music from their ipod or phone if a USB or Aux-in option wasn't there.

Yeah its a weird one. The parrot that they replaced it with is the top of the range one? The car has an AUX input, just not a USB input... that i have found yet anyway.
I presume from your post Dergside that it is not possible to stream music with the BMW bluetooth? I did try but no sound. I thought i might not have had it paired for media as well. Didnt get a chance to check yet.

So am i right that the mic should plug into the wiring loom in the roof somewhere?

BT will show up on the build sheet as something like "S644A HANDY VORB. MIT BLUETOOTH-SCHNITTS. Preparation f mobile phone w Bluetooth". I'm not sure what the feature you've mentioned is.

The ability to stream with the factory BT depends on the era and option fitted. I can't stream from the factory BT in either the e46 330 or the e63 630 but was able to stream on the f10 520d I had. The option code number on my 330 and 520d build sheets are the same. The e60 530 has the USB port in the console cubby and that works OK - can control, select, etc. from the iPod via i-Drive.

Which model of Parrott do you have? If its an MKi9100 or 9200 then it should have other cables too. IIRC the last Mki9100 that I had a few years ago had Aux-in, iPod and USB cables.

    Cool i'll check it out.
M0bridge seems to be the company BMW, Porsche etc use for their bluetooth.

The parrott is the mki9100 and has the extra cables that were routed down and out the tray in the front.
