    E60 520d upgrade to F10, how much?

    Hi lads,

My sister is looking to upgrade to an F10 520d SE, she is looking for black or navy with cream leather and probably unusually she wants a manual so that limits the choice somewhat.

She has an 06 E60 520d SE, silver, 170k miles very well maintained car, she is the third owner as far as I know, always serviced by local ex BMW tech, the car had a replacement gearbox and new clutch and DMF last year. Only fault I know of with the car is faulty rear PDC sensors.

Is it worth €5k? Been looking at F10's and they are between 15-17k for a 10 model with up to 100k miles. She is hoping to upgrade for 10k, does that sound possible or would she need a bigger budget, she's asked me to research it and get back to her. Would you need to factor in the cost of a timing chain if it hasn't been already done or are the F10's more reliable.

Would it be worth going up north for one?

10k or 11k should be doable if he is buying privately. This one looks tidy and has a few extras such as the 18" alloy wheels and heated front seats (they were optional extras on the F10 in 2010 and 2011). Also claims to have a FBMWSH.

Timing chain is still an issue on the F10 so I would budget for it. I'm on my second F10 myself and they really are a step up from the E60.

Thanks Bazz, that looks good but the miles are a little high, she is hoping for something around 80k but I know the price will be a bit higher then.

Her own car was in for NCT yesterday, will be going for sale soon i'd imagine

Personally speaking I think 10k won't be enough.
She may just about get 5ish for her cat but then she will still need 12ish for the F10.

Edit : sell her car privately and buy privately and she may just get t!

Just getting back to this, she has decided to up the budget a bit, maybe has 15k plus her own car to play with. Came across this and it looks good, anyone know anything of the dealer?
