Why do xenon's need headlight washers to pass nct.

Presume it's cos the way the beam is focused, it has to have a clear lens to work properly?

But the washer doesn't do anything. It doesn't clean very well. Mine don't come out anymore for some reason and I'm just not in the mood to go trouble shooting

Apparently it's to cool the headlamps and keep them clean. Tbh there's little point to them but they must work for the Nct unless factory fitted minus the jets I.e jap import

Unfortunately I failed nct because of them. So need to sort it I suppose. Don't know where to start looking
