    Oil level suddenly too high?

So my car needs a service (E60 520D Msport). Booked in for next week.
Because of this i have been watching oil etc like a hawk. This week i noticed oil level ok change to yellow and oil level too high.

I plugged in an odb reader today and got a P14A3 power train fault code back.
So looks like the DPF needs cleaning. I booked in for this tomorrow.

Reading up etc it looks like a clogged DPF can cause diesel to end up in with the oil obviously raising the level. The more Diesel that gets in obviously the more disastrous it will
be as it will blow the engine.

Has anyone else seen this? Am i on the right track?
Im getting my DPF removed, cleaned and replaced tomorrow then serviced straight after.
I should also see a shift in performance as the filter must have been clogged for some time now?

Yep happened to my dad's car with the same engine.

Down the motorway in 3rd holding it above 3/3500 revs heats up the dpf and burns off the shit clogging it up

Will probably need an oil change

Car should be able to regenerate (clean) itself, you need to find out why it's not doing this as you'll be wasting money getting the dpf cleaned and then needing to do it again.

If the DPF is clogged to an extent that the diesel is bursting the high pressure pump seals and leaking into the sump, I'd stop using the car and get it drained / fixed or it will grenade.

The two may not be related i should have added, raising oil levels in diesel's is 90% of the time a failing HP pump - no warning lamps will show directly relating to it, aside from oil level obviously.
