Went to look at a car yesterday (not a bmw unfortunately 08 saab 95 2l petrol) Garage had put it through nct it sailed through, drove very well and appears in excellent condtion.
Ran a history check and it has only done 1 nct, the one that garage did. How strange would this be and for what reason would you drive a 7-8 year old car with no nct. There is full tax bought for the car every 6 months from new The car has 2 owners. Walk away because of this or buy it for what it is. It just seems very unusual.

Personally it wouldn't bother me in the slightest , that bit of paper in the windscreen means nothing the only reason we pay for it each year is because we have too , a service history would be far more important to me

It's 8 years old wouldn't have needed an nct for the first 4 years so the other 4 the owner probably just didn't bother bringing it in

Bit strange considering it was taxed!
Did it have 1 owner in that time?

My Irish '91 Fiesta has never seen an NCT centre (Will do in 2017 though!)

First owner kept it for 3 years fully stamped history and sold it. Nothing for next 5 years but from driving and inspecting it nothing concerns me. Just wondering if their is some scam that people do in relation to this.the only thing I can think of is the registered owner was female ;-). More than likely going to get it.
The one thing it shows the e39 is one hell of a car 7 years a difference in age and the BMW is still the more composed of the 2 on the road. But between tax insurance and budget, the saab is really my only alternative. 3 series for my budget were just too plain or dogs.
