    Manual transmission fluid recommendations

    Hi folks,

Recently picked up an e60 with 6 speed transmission which is a little notchy so I'd like to do a fluid change. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Selector gate bushes etc in good nick?
Most of the manuals use ATF as far as I know - not hypoid gear oil - so the usual goes - look at the BMW spec then buy the best you can afford or want for it.

I've ordered the fluid, CP4L worked out cheapest!

Allot of people mixing MTL and ATF 1:1. The reason is ATF is thinner and takes the notchy feeling away(especially when cold).

+1 for check BMW spec, some boxes specify ATF and some Gl4 75w90

According to realoem, gearbox is GS6-37BG and 75W-90 GL4 is what's required.

From snooping about online, I've found this stuff:

Redline MT-90 gl4 would be correct. Millers could be good, I've never used it. I would avoid any gl5 for gl4 spec box just to be safe.

Opie oils are always a good source of recommendations for specific problems. Might be worth a try
