Advice on e60

Been offered a trade sale 04 2.2 e60. 120; 000miles. Looks clean and told everything works. 900 is the price. Any thoughts on what to check. No Nct. Garage trade sale. Has m6 alloys. Viewing Wednesday.

Check to make sure interior heating works, common for these to need the final stage replaced. If auto make sure auto box shifts as it should. 2.2 M54's can burn oil so check the oil level and then also check for excessive smoke in some cases a CCV replacement will sort this issue if the car has been looked after with regular servicing/oil changes.

Lift the oil cap and check for excessive carbon build up on the cap, will be a sign of not having regular oil changes throughout the course of its life. Outside of that your into the usual like checking for worn ball joints, bushes, vacuum pipes etc. Doing a cooling system overhaul if its a keeper is well worth considering.

I am sure there is more and possibly others who have/had these cars for daily's and spent more time around them will be able to add further insight as to what to look for.

Great advice cab. Went with cheaper to run cars for past year or two but want a bmw again. This was offered so said id ask here.

It's had 9 owners, what look like dodgy replica wheels and from a VIN check looks like zero options other than metallic paint and auto. Considering that e60s are now more affordable, I'd look to spend a bit more to get something that has been taken care of.

It has good enough options. Auto lights and electric everything etc. Im looking for the wife. She's got a shitbox corolla so trying to get a bmw or merc. Iv a celica vvtti 190 and sick of that too. Feels like a fast can of beans. I've my eye on a 07 520d msport but have to wait until its for sale as he's waiting for x6.

What I meant was that it has no option boxes ticked apart from above - all that stuff is standard. Sure up to you if you want to roll the dice, not an expensive car at the end of the day!
