    Car Reg Database Errors

I noticed today on the An Post website that the 330d came up as an Xdrive when it's clearly not.

Similarly the e30 comes up as a 316i rather than a 318iS on Micksgarage and other parts websites.

I assume someone somewhere holds the master db that sourced the data from Revenue but changes it along the way.

Does anyone know how to get the entries corrected?

Not sure where they get the info, but did a check on my own reg numbers - 325i, 330Ci and 630i all show as convertibles, Z4 shows as a Sport rather than Si Sport, e60 shows as a 258bhp SE (it a 272), but the 328i and e39 530i are showing as correct. Wherever it comes from its a crock......

No idea - but my E36 always comes up as an E30 cabrio which is irritating, so when you find out let me know!

I wonder would it bring more trouble than it's worth but you could do a "Change of Particulars" RF111 form to note the errors:

It doesn't quite match and you may need to be lucky to land your form with someone in Shannon that gets what you;re trying to do. I'm not so sure it's worth pursuing though...

Particulars (in my case) are correct on the registration documents - it's just micksgarage / GSF etc where it's wrong

I'm sure if you did a change of particulars which was changing anything which would have affected VRT at first registration then you'd probably be liable for any extra VRT owed. I wonder are any of these discrepancies back handers or favours done so that VRT would be cheaper?

I know when I VRTed my e34 some years ago there was a difference of a few quid on the different drop downs. I went for the cheaper option at the time if I remember correctly. Now my e34 wasn't expensive to VRT but I'm sure there would be many cars where a dealer could make a saving by registering cars incorrectly.

From what I have gleaned though some adverts and post in various Irish forums a lot of e63 650i when new were "accidentally" registered as 3.0L cars not as 4.4L cars. $400 a year savings in tax so yes, it has been taken advantage of...

Here's an example of one such car:

(e63 650i being referred to here also in post #50;' http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showt...7395210&page=4)

I seem to recall a Z4M roadster (blue, iirc) knocking around for a long time with the same "problem", a 3.0 engine on the reg doc. Grand for the purposes of road tax, but a pita in the form of a shadow over the car as regards exporting it to the UK when it couldn't be given away here a few years ago.

Likewise, the reg doc particulars are fine, no convertibles (except zzsofttop) on them.

Same here, particulars are correct on log books, motortax.ie and NCT databases. It's just the databases which third parties have access to (e.g. Micksgarage) which seem to be wrong
