Just to update this with some new found info:
Autoline will not insure an m3 as classic when it reaches 15 years old, just off the phone to them there now.
They will only cover convertible bmw and mercs from 15 years, everything else must be 20

They alse quoted me for a 2003 E39 525i M Sport on a classic policy no problem about a month ago !

It may be the car (E46 M3) more so than the year. At the price they're now at, they quite often fall into the hands of those who may not have the best driver profile/driving records....

I have a classic policy with them for my 2002 e46 M3. It was last January I took that out though so maybe things have changed since then.
Tried again, they referred it to there underwriters but still no joy.
I reckon it's more so down to me being 25 than the car being 15 years old . . .
