    E46 Xenon Ballast

    Hi

My E46 has factory fitted xenon lights and the passenger side light has been flickering lately. If I switch off the lights and then switch them back on, the flickering stops for a few minutes. It seems to be a common problem with the ballast so I'll replace it once I have confirmed that it is causing the lights to flicker.

My question is, where is the best place to source a new ballast? Are the spurious versions on eBay just rubbish?

    Thanks
    Brian

Swap the ballasts around, if you're problem moves, you've confirmed it.

Don't buy shit ballasts, get the Bosch part number, you'll probably find that the same part is used in a lot of cars.

Swapping the ballast to the other side was the plan to confirm it as the problem.

I'm just looking to find out the best place to buy a new one. I completely agree with you on not buying shit ballasts but the car is nearly 15 years old so keeping the cost down is a concern. There's no point in sinking big money into an old car with more than 200k miles.
