    E-Drive PHEV BMWs In Ireland

Hi all, my good friend has decided to swap his 2004 Estoril Blue 320Ci M-Sport Coupe for a 2016 330e M-Sport Saloon in Estoril Blue! I sourced a car in a main dealer in the UK and picked it up on Sunday. (Yes they open on a Sunday in Blighty!)
Have to say I love the car and think they are amazing value, particularly if you buy from a main dealer. While I won’t be driving it much I’d love to hear from any other forum members who have one of the PHEV models to get tips and info about the charging and eDrive modes.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

    Dan

A colleague has one in work. They’re a great car and a terrific mix of power and economy. I’ve spent a lot of time in it going to various meetings and they’re brilliant. He doesn’t always keep it charged but when he does he regularily can do his commute from stillorgan for 2 days fully electric in rush hour traffic which is amazing! Low VRT makes these such a bargain at the mo.

We have an X5 40e and love it. We do about 800km between trips to the petrol station, it’s just great.

I probably charge it 5 nights a week and if it wasn’t for the fact we live on a hill the petrol engine wouldn’t kick in.

I just leave it on Auto mode all the time as I found trying to have it in E mode permanently the battery drains too fast.

Can you plug in at any of the public chargers directly or do you need to get some sort of adapter?

We use the public charges too. The standard bmw cable is perfect. You just need to register with the esb to get a card to tap against the machine. Very handy.
