Run in period is intended for running in engines where there is metal on metal contact such as piston rings, cam lobes etc.

400-500 miles , oil and filter. Then drive as normal.

But of course do what you feel is right. Most garages will tell you to do a run in period to cover them selves I would imagine.
Thanks for that man that is good news for me i suppose they said approx 1,200km about 800 miles not way off your figure of 500 miles so feel confident to split the difference not in to much of a hurry to push her on until next season as see is not my daily driver so have plenty of time to play with �� but do miss that V8 sound right now
