Picked up a full set of wipers today for the X5 for the princely sum of zero euro complements of BMW First.

I signed up for the cheapest package and got an extra month free due to DonB’s referral.

Tbh I don’t see the point of BMW First, it’s not like it’s going to convince me to spend more on BMWs or to make think that the paid services (like €300 for a set of brake pads) is good value. But let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth!

Tbh I found that when you took the 20% discount and the level of discount by a friendly dealer (in my experience) you only ended up paying a bit more than getting it done at a specialist/spurous garage.

    At least for servicing....

I think I paid around 620 for a major service on the X5 vs 480-500 from another place... For the sake of warranty i stuck with the main dealer..

But yeah I got the free wiper blades too :-)

The discount applies to parts and other stuff too...

That’s a fair point but I have a service pack on our X5 til Oct 2021 so while they’ll see me a few times they’re unlikely to get much €€ from me.

Warranty wouldn't be affected by using a non-dealer for servicing, once OEM parts are used (correct spec oils for example).

The EU (rightly) sorted out that monopoly back in 2003...

    Current: E39 525i M Sport (Titan Silver)

And Courtney’s are linked into the BMW system so any work done by them is automatically on the BMW system which is fantastic.

However the burden of proof will be with the owner to prove that OEM parts were used and servicing was carried out as per the manufacturer's guidelines if there is warranty work required or goodwill needed beyond the warranty period. The discount that BMW First has certainly reduced the price difference between main dealer and independent for a lot of servicing costs in my experience.

Signed up to this just now. Clicked on the Bmw service site and just out of interest put in my old reg. Check out the price difference between an oil service and an oil service with micro filter replacement!
