Has anyone here rented from BMW classic? I thought there used to be a better selection of stuff to rent?
Any other advice to make the best of the trip is appreciated.
Yes, book it in advance, you won’t get the factory tour if you leave it too soon before travel. Forget about getting the tour turning up on the day.
I’ve only rented from the BMWonDemand.de range, again I booked in advance. However I did see someone secure an M3 booking at the counter. It was October during Oktoberfest. I don’t know if classics are available through the same service.
I was last there in 2009 with the BMW 2002 Turbo owners club. They had organised a private tour of the museum and the Welt. I found out after the fact that some of the jammy gits organised a tour of the secret stash of the full collectio, M cars, experimental cars etc. I was sick as a chocolate frog. Still it was a good day. Going to plan another visit soon.

I rented an M3 there via BMW On Demand last month. Booked online a couple of weeks beforehand and it was fairly seamless picking it up in the BMW Welt on the day. Well worth doing. The car was on winter tyres so they advised not going above 200km/h!
I did ask about the BMW Classic car hire but they weren’t aware of it. I expect it’s run from a different area to On Demand.
